
Using the spark-plasma technique to produce the mullite-sialon-ZrB<sub>2</sub> materials and their properties examination

It was shown how the different sialon and ZrB 2 ratio in course of the spark-plasma sintering under the pressing load of 75 MPa at 1200‒1600 °C influences the phase composition, the Si 3 N 4 and Al 2 O 3 content in sialon, the microstructure and crystal phases grain size, the density rate and open porosity, the linear shrinkage and physical and mechanical properties, as well as the linear correlation between the elasticity modulus and ultimate compression strength of the mullite‒sialon‒ZrB 2 samples.
