Shaping New Literacies Research: Extrapolations From a Review of the Handbook of Research on New Literacies

In the Handbook of Research on New Literacies, editors Julie Coiro, Michele Knobel, Colin Lankshear, and Donald J. Leu have compiled a set of papers representing the most comprehensive discussion to date of research and theoretical perspectives in this emerging field. The editors selected authors who are making important forays into our understanding of these new literacies—their nature, influence, and potential. The Handbook offers significant insights on a host of issues, including how the internet, instant messaging, gaming, digital productions and other communication modes and technologies are changing literacy and the way we view it. Leu ont réuni un ensemble de textes qui présentent la discussion la plus large à ce jour relative aux recherches et aux perspectives théoriques dans ce domaine émergent. Les coordonnateurs ont choisi des auteurs qui présentent des ouvertures importantes pour notre compréhension de ces nouvelles littératies — leur nature, leur influence, et leur potentiel. Le Manuel fait état d'intuitions remarquables sur une foule de questions, par exemple comment Internet, les messageries instantanées, les jeux, les productions numériques et d'autres modalités de communication changent la littératie et la façon dont nous la percevons.
