The hypothesis is presented in the following study according to which one of the plot sources of Lidya Charskaya’s story “Sibirochka” is the story of Parasha Lupolova. Charskaya reproduces the main elements of the socalled “parasha’s plot”, which served as the basis for a number of short stories, both authored and anonymous, throughout the XIX century, but adapts it for children’s readership. In her story, Charskaya offers a variant of a teenage girl role model. Unlike her predecessors, who turned to the “parasha’s plot”, the writer focuses special attention on the main character. Through her, Charskaya introduces a rather unusual for the beginning of the XX century concept of cultural and ethnic tolerance.
