The article deals with the philosophical history of Pyotr Yakovlevich Chaadaev from the point of view of ethics. The purpose of the work is to present Chaadaev’s philosophy of history as part of his philosophical system, to consider the religious and moral motives of the philosopher. Conclusion: the understanding of Chaadaev’s philosophy of history as a critique of Russia is incorrect.
