Researchers have noted the “essayization” (expansion of essay’s genre features) as a clear trend in the world and Russian media for a long time and not without a reason. Among many factors that determine the accelerated development of this process, one should be mentioned in particular - the growing interest of the audience to the author’s individuality of the information message, — which is the main genre feature of an essay. The article examines the features of the creative method of the Russian-American journalist and writer Alexander Genis following the example of the author’s project in Novaya Gazeta.
