In 1919 Eigenmann collected an unciescribed species of freshwater fish from southern Chile that he named Galaxias globiceps . This species has not been collected since then. In 1992 we sampled the streams in the area visited by Eigenmann and collected 12 juvenile G. globiceps . Morphometric measurements are presented that distinguish G. globiceps from G. platei and that demonstrate that the new specimens are indeed G. globiceps .
