An effort was made to catch (by angling) three radio‐monitored adult northern pike (Esox lucius) during December to document vulnerability of fish to angling when their specific location is known. Ice‐fishing techniques were successful in the capture of all three fish with relative ease, thus supporting laws promulgated by fisheries agencies that prohibit the use of telemetry devices attached to or implanted in fish to aid the angler.
