Yearling carp held at four constant temperatures were injected with bovine growth hormone. A relatively greater responsiveness to growth hormone injections was found at below‐optimum temperatures of 9.2 and 19.5 C and the above‐optimum temperature of 35.8 C than at the optimum temperature for growth, 29.6 C. There was no significant effect of the hormone on body composition.
