Precise weights of specimens preserved in liquids can be obtained rapidly if one uses the spin cycle of a washing machine to remove excess liquid. Although weights obtained by this method are reproducible, many factors can affect length‐weight comparisons. Readers are cautioned of the difficulties in making comparisons between separate studies.
