A tagging study of 350 egg bearing lobsters in 1964 at Orleans, Massachusetts suggested substantial movement in a northerly direction. Average movement of 39 (11%) recaptures was 30.2 km. To verify this movement, the author conducted a second study in 1965 in which 47 tags (15%) were returned. Mean time at large was 39 days and mean distance traveled was 26.1 km. Thirty‐eight percent of the recoveries moved less than 10 km, 21% moved between 10 and 30 km, and 41% exceeded 30 km. Results obtained in 1965 corroborated the northerly movement indicated in 1964.
