Distributions of fish of commercial importance on a bush‐cleared area in Lake Kariba was studied using six‐inch stretch mesh gillnets. Yields of fish per hundred yards of net set were found to be greater in benthic waters than at the surface, and to decrease markedly with increasing depth of water. Yields from nets set perpendicular to the shore in five feet of water were significantly greater than yields from any other depth, irrespective of direction of set.
