Neutral red and Bismarck brown Y were tested as immersion stains for sockeye salmon fry. Although initial mortalities were low in experiments using Neutral red, all fry regardless of concentration or immersion time were dead on the 4th day. Controls survived well. Three experimental groups of fry stained in Bismarck brown Y solutions were conspicuously stained after a week, and total mortalities were low during 7‐ and 13‐day holding periods.
