The length of the growing season of largemouth black bass and small‐mouth black bass in Norris Reservoir for 1939 has been calculated to be not more than 4 months. The seasonˈs growth in both species of bass began after late May. The largemouth black bass had completed their growth by the early part of October, and the smallmouth black bass by the latter part of September. This 4‐month growing period corresponded to that during which the water in the lake was 75° F. or above, and was much shorter than the agricultural growing season of 7 months.
