An Applesoft BASIC computer package called DISBCAL has been developed in conjunction with an Apple II microcomputer, a projection device, and a digitizing pad to measure fish scales efficiently. DISBCAL calculates the linear body scale regression, body lengths at annuli, and associated statistics within minutes after measurement. One new user completed an analysis of 78 scales from bluegill sunfish (Lepomis macrochirus) in about 4 hours. Location of annuli was by far the slowest part of the analysis.
