This piece offers a personal, wry rumination on publishing one's work.  In the piece, I work through stages of anticipation, dejection, envy, amity, shoring up, and persistence.  These stages represent the process of sending work out, being rejected for publication, envying the publications of others, and yet finding the will to believe in the work of journals to circulate essays that will affirm, challenge, and/or change our thinking and the will to persist in the effort to find a place for my words, my work.
