In educational terms, assessment should be a reliable, objective measure of our knowledge and abilities. Learning can be divided into different areas which, in educational terms, are called ‘domains’. These comprise knowledge, attitude to learning and skills. Each domain requires a different type of assessment. This article looks at how these areas of learning can be assessed in terms of medical education.
