Continuing our series on allied specialties, we consider psychiatry and mental health websites. Mental health problems affect a significant proportion of pregnant women and suicide is a major contributor to maternal death. Antenatal mental health problems present ethical and practical dilemmas, particularly if capacity to consent is questioned. Postnatal depression may present more often in primary care but mental health problems frequently present to the obstetrician or gynaecologist directly. Information for women and their clinicians needs to be accessible: online information can be helpful.
