On the basis of analysing theoretical approaches to socio-economic transformations which occur in modern society under the influence of the wide spread of digital technologies, the author builds production functions, the study of which helps to identify the main identification criterion of modern society – increasing the role of knowledge and information, as well as defining the basic characteristics of society based on knowledge. The analysis of the factors constituting the structure of modern social production makes it possible to conclude that it maintains the market content, therefore, when characterizing modern society, we talk about “digital” coordinates of society, whose economic system operates on the basis of market interactions mediated by the use of digital technologies. The article shows the results of studying qualitative (changes taking place in the system of production relations) and quantitative (development indicators of the “digital stack”) “digital coordinates” of modern Russian society, on the basis of which the author characterizes the specificity of production relations arising in modern society concerning production, distribution, exchange and consumption of information products; reveals restrictions on the use of digital technologies (developing “digital” infrastructure) and possible “growing points” (level of human capital development and availability of “digital ”skills), as well as strategic priorities for developing Russian society that actively uses digital technologies.
