In this paper, we present an convernient procedure for synthesis of 21‐acetoxypregna‐1,4,9(11)‐triene‐17 α ,21‐diol‐3,20‐dione from 9 α ‐hydroxyandrostenedione, an key intermediate for synthesis of corticoids such as prednisolone, dexamethasone, betamethasone, etc. The strusture of the product and its intermediates was examined by physical methods such as: IR, MS, 1 H and 13 C‐NMR
