A 4 II ‐protected α‐cellobiosyl fluoride is an efficient donor for the enzymatic stepwise condensations onto methyl ß‐D‐glycoside acceptors. These reactions, catalyzed by the Cel7B E197A glycosynthase from Humicola insolens , gave cellodextrins from degree of polymerization 3 to 6 in high yields.
