The Tidal Model is a holistic approach to healthcare. It focuses on the personal journey, using the metaphor of a sea voyage. The journey may at times feature storms, breakdown, rehabilitation and recovery. This article describes how the model may be creatively used by chaplains and other members of the healthcare team working with those coping with mental distress and HIV.
