The paper focusses on perspectives onto South East Europe, as they arerepresented in works of popular culture in German language such asnovels and operetta. Due to the widespread reception of these works,they draw and promote a collectively shared picture of this regionbased on narratives that are featuring many stereotypes and prejudices.The paper presents first results from the pre-study to a projectthat focusses on narratives about the region of South East Europe asthey are represented in works of popular culture in German language.
