This chapter clarifies my position vis‐à‐vis both the “New Archaeology” and current approaches. It briefly describes environment–behavior studies (EBS) and discusses the mutual relevance of the two fields, emphasizing the role EBS can play in archaeological inference. Examples, mainly from the post‐1990s archaeological literature, are used to support the argument.
