Because of the differing circumstances which surround each case, Mfantse litigation settlement involves complex decision making. The natural system which elders use to set pacification fees in these cases simplifies otherwise complex decisions by limiting the amount of information brought to bear on each case to a small number of salient criteria and by applying these criteria sequentially .
