Sultanate of Yogyakarta, which became one of the special region is undergoing tumultuous internal politics of the ruling. because the king did not have sons as successor to power. King the title of Sultan HB X has five children, all of whom are women. As is known to the heir to the throne outlined in Yogyakarta sultanate was never headed by a queen. Since the establishment of this sultanate until now only ruled by the king, which means a man. So when the Sultan HB X announced his throne heir who falls on his eldest daughter, an immediate reaction resistance even internally and externally. To that end, this article would like to examine some aspects of the Sultanate of Yogyakarta and resistance of women’s political leadership in the empire by using an Islamic perspective.
