The article contains a critical presentation of the views of a leading American sociologist, T. Parsons. The author discusses general theory of action devised by Parsons and its consequences for human individuals. She also reviews Parsons’ views on values and moral assessments, and the categories of freedom and individual responsibility. Parsons’ theory, the author concludes, is an eloquent expression of bourgeois individualism phrased in a language appealing to the contemporary capitalist corporations and monopolies.
