The aim of this study was to investigate the quality of life issues among hip fracture patients. This was a comparative prospective study with the 3 years duration of follow-up. Three groups of hospitalized patients aged 50 and older were included. First group consisted of 50 hip fracture patients, second group - 45 patients with myocardial infarction, and the third group included 64 control subjects. There was no age and sex difference between groups. The Short-Form (SF-36) questionnaire was used to assess quality of life.The mortality rates as well as quality of life parameters were similar in hip fracture and myocardial infarction patients. But hip fracture patients had significantly lower values of Physical functioning and Bodily pain scores (р
