Prior studies have shown that parents of children with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) have significantly more symptoms of depression and anxiety, compared to parents with children who do not have a chronic illness (1). The aim of this study is to investigate the occurrence of symptoms of distress, including depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder, among parents of children with IBD and associations with disease course and time from diagnosis.
