Using geometric morphometry methods, we analyzed the variability of the shape of the leaf blade of Polygonum monspeliense Thiе́baut ex Pers., grown on various soil substrates. It was established that soil characteristics affectthe formation of the leaf blade of P. monspeliense: leaf blades of plants grown on soils transformed as a result of technogenic impacts of the territories are different in form from leaf blades of specimens grown on soil. Subsequent accumulation of data will verify the presence or absence of a correlation of the shape of the leaf blade of P. monspeliense withspecific edaphic characteristics. It is advisable to further search for informative descriptors of the form in their numericalexpression in order to create a bioindication scale.
