The paper discusses the concept of desire in Hegel from the perspective of phenomenological analysis. By connecting the phenomenology of Husserl and Heidegger to German idealism, I wish to highlight the idea that the two are closer to each other than it is usually believed. Through close readings of Hegel’s Phenomenology of the Spirit, I show how some philosophical ideas of German idealism reappear more emphatically in Phenomenology.
