RESUMEN: Este artículo presenta un análisis reflexivo sobre las características de la mediación educativa familiar en los procesos educativos básicos y las implicaciones que los cambios operados en las estructuras familiares actuales están teniendo sobre dicha mediación, especialmente en las prácticas educativas paternas; se subrayan los desajustes entre las expectativas sociales hacia el nuevo rol paterno y la conducta paterna en la relación educativa con los hijos; asimismo se proponen algunas medidas educativas tendentes a paliar esta problemática.SUMMARY: This article presents a reflexive analysis as to the characteristics of educational mediation within the family, the implications resulting from modifications ocurring within the family structure and the imbalances which exist between paternal educational practices-conduct and the demands made by social expectations in the face of change. From the problematical perspective surrounding feelings of discomfort and unrest regarding the rôle of parenthood, we aim to put forward a series of educational proposals.
