The original paper (BJEP, 1998, 68, 203± 215) had some transposition errors in the final analysis of gender groupings. Fortunately, the implications regarding the role of masculinity influencing performance upon psychometric measures are unaffected. The data from the examination boards and the sex differences remain unaltered.
