In the debate on the function and nature of the Plan of Saint Gall, very little attention has been paid to the fact that a relevant part of its annotations are verse inscriptions. These are not an insignificant detail of the work, rather one of its most distinctive features, clearly exceptional an architectural drawing. The aim of this article is to elucidate the reasons for their inclusion in the plan and to analyze their main expressive devices.
