From Olympic champions and rugby heroes to the latest crop of trainees battling it out in Gaelic football and ironman competitions, surgeons have a long and often distinguished record in sport. Here, we outline the history of surgeons in sport, and talk to surgeons of today and tomorrow about their sporting achievements.
