As we are all aware, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) has recently been revamped and under new leadership has commenced inspections of all NHS hospitals in England. The inclusion of appropriate clinicians in the process has been a critical difference in the way inspections were previously carried out. How the previous regime believed they could gain a true impression of how a hospital functioned in the absence of such clinicians defies belief. If the CQC were ever to be taken seriously change was inevitable.
