The rail industry is a growing system which is subject to big international shifts and changes. To follow the changes and quality requirements of the industry International Railway Industry Standards (IRIS) was developed. It aims the global recognition in the market. The number of certified companies is steadily increasing. Even in Turkey some companies having the certificates can be found. Although Turkey has a history of 100 years in the rail sector, big changes can be observed only in the recent years. The importance of QMS seems to be understood. With the implementation of IRIS , Turkish companies have made a headway and got experiences to overcome the obstacles. Since IRIS is quite a young QMS , it needs to be introduced more to become more popular and efficient.
