The nasal or sinus mucosa cilia of 31 patients with various upper respiratory tract diseases have been examined for fine structural abnormalities. Although a wide variety of membrane, microtubular and cytoplasmic changes have been observed, their effect — except for genetic disorders — on respiratory disease remains unknown.
