The effect of cryosurgery with the Brymill laryngeal spray was studied in 14 canine larynges. The liquid nitrogen spray was applied via a laryngo fissure or through the Jako suspension laryngoscope. Tissue temperatures were recorded with a thermocouple. The effects of liquid nitrogen spray on canine laryngeal tissues to determine the amount of tissue which can be destroyed, while preserving normal laryngeal function, were studied. The results of the treatment of four patients with the laryngeal cryosurgery are presented.
