Our experience with an application and technique for electrocochleography, specifically in retardates, is reported. A case is presented in detail; that is, a mongoloid child with many overlapping otological and audiological diagnostic problems. With the combined use of cochleography and tympanometry much of this diagnostic confusion was resolved and management was simplified. This technique is also compared with late evoked cortical audiometry.
