Mass lesions of the hypopharynx and pyriform sinus are usually malignant neoplasms. Benign tumors do occur but are uncommon. In a review of the literature, no case of impingement of a thyroid mass upon the hypopharynx and pyriform sinus was found. An unusual case of localized enlargement of the superior pole of the thyroid gland which impinges on the hypopharynx and pyriform sinus is presented.
