Two cases of cyanosis and cor pulmonale are presented due to upper airway. Obstruction from enlarged adenoids and to congenital heart disease in order to point up the critical importance of recognizing adenoid hypertrophy in addition to congenital heart disease as a possible cause of cyanosis. In an effort to supply adequate tissue oxygenation for these two growing babies, a cardio‐respiratory system already heavily taxed by severe congenital heart disease, was further chronically compromised by upper airway obstruction from enlarged adenoids. Cardiac operations to relieve the cyanosis, hypoxia, and right ventricular failure were unsuccessful. Simple adenoidectomy accomplished this and thus enhanced the probabilty of survival in these two patients.
