Thirteen cases of severe unilateral Ménière's disease, unresponsive to medical management, were treated with the Cody Tack procedure and followed for from one to three years postoperatively. Significant improvement in vertigo occurred in 12 of 13 cases (92 percent) with one failure. In none of the cases was the SRT improved by 20 db or greater. The SRT was unchanged in 50 percent and deteriorated by 20 db or more in 50 percent. Speech discrimination results essentially mirrored the SRT results: 8 percent showed improvement in discrimination, 42 percent showed no change and 50 percent had a decrease in discrimination. Tinnitus was improved in 62 percent and fullness improved in 69 percent.
