The Principles of Shaping Political Representation in the European Parliament in the Regulations of the Treaty of LisbonThe article analyses the basic principles of representation in the European Parliament established in the Treaty of Lisbon and applied in the 2014 elections. The author focuses on the size of the parliament and the distribution of seats between the member states. Author also analyses the principle of degressive proportionality. In conclusions, the author states that the main problems with the rules of representation are a consequence of treating the borders of states as the borders of electoral districts.
