Polish karawana ‘Caravan’ and karawan ‘Hearse’ in the Context of Other Slavonic and Some West European LanguagesThe traditional Oriental etymology of Polish karawana ‘caravan’ seems to be self-evident and somewhat trivial. This author aims to show that the transmission channels from the Orient into both Slavonic and Western European languages are far more complex than previously thought.
