The memoirs of a lawyer, economist and entrepreneur Antoni Plutyński, who listened to lectures and worked in a private seminar of Szymon Askenazy, provide important information on the didactic activity of the outstanding historian from Lviv. His intelligence, broad knowledge, literary talent and ability to draw attention attracted ambitious students for whom the idea of history referring to life seemed extremely attractive. Askenazy, striving primarily for the scientific development of young people, did not refuse to help a group of politically active students with national views. In this kind of commitment, he sought achieving the goal to prepare the elite for the reborn Polish state.
