The article is devoted to the problem of online learning development in the global educational space. This the most effective and modern pedagogical practice, which is ahead of the global digital pedagogy emerging in the conditions of globalization, is a key social phenomenon in the life of the world community, which is the main condition of its development during the formation period of civilization of the knowledge societies on the planet. To comply with the concept of smart education in the intellectual society, e-learning, the fifth innovative model of online learning, in its future functioning should be based not only on the latest achievements in the field of information technology, but also on scientific support and monitoring of the global digital pedagogy, which determines, in particular, the degree of their integration into the online learning process. The well-grounded interaction of the theory and practice of online learning is the global educational system foundation of civilization of the knowledge societies
