Questions of historical development and current state in the area of metrological support related to laser safety system in Russia have been considered. A review of main metrological normative documents in the area of laser dosimetry has been performed. Technical characteristics of modern laser dosimeters have been presented. A need of development of new perspective methods related to laser dosimetry on open spaces has been shown.
