The article analyzes the bioethical issues of reproductive technologies in the Russian Federation, states that numerous issues affecting basic human rights are governed by bylaws. In Russia there is no any official advisory body to give a bioethical evaluation injected biomedical technologies. The author considers the content of the Basic Social Concept of the Russian Orthodox Church, as well as the ethical appeal of Pope John Paul II (in particular, “Evangelium Vitae”, March 25, 1995). The article examines bioethical issues arising in the application of surrogacy program.
