
THE SHEAR RESISTANCE OF THE SOIL WHEN RE-LOADING THE SAMPLE

They briefly reviewed the information about the processes occurring in the microstructure of clay soil when reporting it shear deformations. They made monoplanar cuts of two groups of clay soil samples in the shift device by applying a compressive load.
The samplesofthe first group were tested on cutting by repeated application
of the vertical force. While testing the second group of samples the vertical compressive load was applied only once. As a result of the evaluation of test data, there was obtained a soil reinforcement by re-loaded samples as compared with single-loaded.
This received under repeated loading vertical force hardening, presumably, could be due to an increase in the total area of the sliding surfaces, along which there occurs the deformation of the samples. The resulting effect can be used in designing remodeling.
