As interfacility transfer of patients with stroke becomes increasingly common, understanding fluctuations in deficits during transfer may help predict resource needs. We sought to characterize changes in NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scores during transfer and identify factors associated with early rapid improvement (ERI).
